See how we balanced heritage preservation with contemporary design in this Winelands renovation.
When our client came to us with a centuries-old cottage in the heart of Stellenbosch, they brought two priorities: respect the home’s history — and make it livable for modern life.
We preserved original stone walls and timber beams, then introduced minimalist glass courtyards and open-plan interiors. The contrast didn’t feel jarring — it felt poetic.
Lighting was key. We used concealed LEDs to highlight heritage textures and large frameless glazing to flood new additions with light. The result is a space that speaks two languages fluently: tradition and innovation.
For homeowners and developers alike, this project shows that restoration isn’t about freezing time — it’s about letting the past breathe into the future.
