The project began with a clear design directive: align with the architectural guidelines set forth by the estate. While these regulations serve to maintain aesthetic cohesion and long-term value within the development, they also posed creative limitations—dictating rooflines, materials, setbacks, and even permissible design language.
The challenge was to create a home that not only adhered to these formal parameters but also expressed individuality, embraced functionality, and felt like home. On a relatively compact site, this meant finding the perfect balance between regulatory compliance and architectural character, all while optimizing for natural light, privacy, and outdoor flow.
To navigate the constraints and maximize the site's potential, we adopted an L-shaped design layout. This approach allowed us to wrap the structure around a private outdoor entertainment zone, naturally creating a sense of enclosure and intimacy.
The open leg of the “L” frames a sun-drenched swimming pool and deck area, seamlessly extending the interior living zones into a functional, lifestyle-focused exterior. The orientation also allowed us to screen off neighbors while enhancing solar exposure, and ensured that family areas—like the kitchen and lounge—could open directly onto the heart of the home: the garden and pool.
The final result is a pleasant, open, and comfortable space—tailor-made for modern urban family living. The L-shaped layout fosters both connection and calm, encouraging interaction in shared zones while maintaining privacy in more secluded areas.
Large sliding doors and glazed surfaces blur the lines between inside and out, bringing in fresh air, natural light, and views of the poolscape. The home feels anchored, warm, and effortlessly livable, while remaining firmly rooted within the estate's design ethos.
It’s a true success story in working with constraints—not against them—to deliver a timeless family retreat.
